Obama: Kanye West's a jackass

AMERICAN President BARACK OBAMA has joined the anti-KANYE WEST bandwagon - slamming him as a "jackass" for his actions at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The half-cut rapper crashed the stage at Sunday's event as teen singer TAYLOR SWIFT was accepting her gong for Best Female Video.

He grabbed the mic from the country starlet and declared she was an unworthy winner, insisting BEYONCE actually deserved the prize for Single Ladies.

He said: "Sorry Taylor, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time."

Tactless Kanye was left the villain as he was booed by the celeb-filled audience at New York's Radio City Music Hall.

Celebs including PINK and KATY PERRY rushed onto Twitter to put the boot in and now the leader of the free world has joined in.

Obama made the remarks in an 'off-the-record portion of an interview' that were put on Twitter by a news reporter called Terry Moran.

Moran quickly deleted and apologised for the Tweet, which read: "Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a 'jackass' for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT'S presidential."

Meanwhile Kanye offered a third apology for his MTV antics, blaming the stresses he's been through including the death of his beloved mother Donda.

In an interview with Jay Leno, left, he also promised to "take some time off and just analyse how I'm going to improve and make it through the rest of this life".

He added: "My entire life, I've only wanted to give and do something that I felt was right.

"And I immediately knew in the situation that it was wrong, and it wasn't a spectacle or just - you know, it's actually someone's emotions, you know, that I stepped on.

"And it was very, it was just, it was rude, period."

THE SATURDAYS, CHIPMUNK and MICKEY ROURKE have also weighed in with their views on Kanye's antics.

Saturdays star ROCHELLE said: "If he ever did that to us, we'd all batter him. Poor Taylor, she's so sweet and did not deserve that. Beyonce looked so uncomfortable too."

Mickey Rourke blasted: "I'd knock him out if he did that when I was accepting a prize."

And Chipmunk added: "It was very harsh. Kanye is my idol but he did a bad thing there."

Meanwhile, a YouTube video featuring an Obama speech interrupted by Kanye's VMAs rant has become an internet hit.
